Nova Scotia Day 8: Whale Watching and the Last Day

The eighth day of our trip was a very good day. We started off the morning with a hike on Hirtle's Beach, followed by going whale watching out of Lunenburg harbour, and followed up by a very nice dinner in town. Hirtle's Beach. Hiking trail near Hirtle's Beach. A rough coastline view. A wet mushroom. Lunenburg Harbour from the sea. Harbour and Grey seals we saw while whale watching. Seal basking on a rock. Surfer on Hirtle's Beach. I proposed to my significant other and she said yes. A view of Riverport. This was also our last day full day of our trip as we just returned the rental car and flew back home to Ottawa the next day.

Nova Scotia Day 7: Lunenburg

The seventh day of our trip started out in the fog. Which made for some rather nice photos. The day was spent in Lunenburg and the surrounding area. View of the LaHave river from our BnB. View in the other direction from our BnB. Toba's BnB is where we stayed for the second half of our trip. I would highly recommend it.  Hirtle's Beach in the morning mist. Fishing shack on a rock at Blue Rocks near Lunenburg. Blue Rocks near Lunenburg. Coastline at Blue Rocks. I saw this Lupine flower all over Nova Scotia, from highway ditches to people's gardens. The Bluenose 2 is probably the most famous ship in Canada. One of the many historic houses in Lunenburg.

Nova Scotia Day 6: Peggy's Cove

On the sixth day of our trip, we rented a car and drove to Peggy's Cove, on our way to our BnB in La Have. For those that don't know Peggy's Cove is a pretty little fishing village in Nova Scotia that has become famous for its lighthouse.  The view of the harbour at Peggy's Cove, the fishing boats here are mostly lobster fishing boats. The famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse The coastline from the lighthouse. A zoomed out look at the coastline. Peggy's Cove Lighthouse without any people in it. St. Luke's Anglican Chruch in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. Hirtle's Beach after a storm.

Nova Scotia Day 5: Point Pleasant Park

On the fifth day of our vacation in Halifax, we walked from our hotel down to Point Pleasant Park for the day. This is a rather large urban park at the point of the peninsula that makes up Halifax. The small building in front of the large one is our hotel, Four Points by Sheraton.  A CN rail yard near the port, note the cruise ship in the background. This was one of the larger ones with over 5000 people visiting the city that day. Price of Wales Tower National Historical Site. One of the many beaches in the park. The water was quite cold so no swimming yet. Industrial site near the port with a CN railcar. Grain Silos at the port with a train in the front

Nova Scotia Day 4: Citadel Hill and Urban Halifax

On the fourth day of our trip my girlfriend and I explored the city of Halifax. Nova Scotia Day 3: Halifax

Our first full day in Halifax occurred on day 3 of our trip. After getting in by train at around 4am we slept in till 10 and then started our day. We spent the day walking down on the harbour front which has a very nice boardwalk. We also took the ferry across the harbour to Dartmouth, which gave great views of the Halifax skyline.  Two CN engines waiting for their next job in Dartmouth.  View of the Halifax skyline from the ferry. The ferry that takes you across the harbour.  The Citadel Hill clocktower, viewed from the harbour.  These lamp posts are an art installation called "Got Drunk, Fell Down" by Chris Hanson and Hendrika Sonnenberg The Georges Island National Historial Site Lighthouse View of Government House in Halifax.
