Today I went for a cold winter walk just to get out of the house. I decided to bring my camera along because why not. The first photo is of a flock of ducks flying towards the only open part of the river. In the second and third photos, I found hanging in the forest, it seems someone has made cool designs with natural things and froze them in water to hang up, I think this is pretty cool. The fourth photo is of a red squirrel with was making quite a lot of noise as I was walking under his tree. The fifth photo is a Hairy Woodpecker looking for some dinner, while the sixth and final photo is of an American Crow.   

For the second year in a row, I went down to Mud Lake to try to get some bird photos during the migration season. I did end up with some nice photos of birds but, these birds will most likely stay for the winter here, due to people feeding them (minus the heron). This weekend I finally got around to going out for a nice walk again. It was a fairly cold day in Ottawa so that meant a rather short walk. We went to the Fletcher Wildlife Garden's which is right beside the Experimental Farm here in Ottawa. Other than some Red Squirrels and some birds there was not a lot of activity but that was to expect on a cold March day.  The first photo is of a White-Breasted Nuthatch which was found near a feeder that had been set up in a stand of trees. The second photo is of a male Northern Cardinal sitting in an evergreen tree near the same feeder as the Nuthatch was near. The third and final photo is of a Red Squirrel drinking some sap out of a young tree. Seeing as the sap is just starting to run this was rather interesting to see, as I watched the squirrel move from branch to branch for about five minutes drinking the sap. 

On the Avon Trail, a person will find a variety of different habitats, ranging from farmers' fields, woodlots, valleys, streams, and rivers. The most recent walk I went on, I passed through almost all of these habitats. The first photo is of an Eastern Chipmunk who I saw in among a bunch of Trout Lilies that were just coming up. This is a photo of a Trout Lily in full bloom. It is called a Trout Lily because the leaves of the plant have spots on them just like Trout does. This flower was in full bloom with all of the flower petals pulled back which is something distinct to the Trout Lily, but I could be wrong. The provincial flower of Ontario is the Trillium which is exactly what this photo is of. When I went for my walk the Trilliums were just starting to bloom with, only a couple actually out in full bloom. This is part 3 of the Hunting Camp series that I am doing. Part 3 is about mist. That morning I woke up early because in the past there had always been mist on the lake when I woke up and this time was no different. There was a lot of mist, a lot more than I had seen in the past probably due to the fact I got up earlier than what I normally would have.  The first two photos are taken from the shore overlooking the main lake we use. The mist is so thick that it is hard to see more than 20 meters out into the lake. However, in these photos, you are still able to see the reflection of the pine trees in the water. The third photo is taken from the dock looking out at the diving platform we have out on the lake. You are also able to see the reflection of the pine trees in this photo as well. The remaining two mist pictures are taken from the channel that connects the two lakes together. The first photo is looking down towards the main lake that the camp is based on. I like this pho...
