This past weekend I was in Stratford to visit my parents. In Stratford, there's a really nice garden called Shakespeare Gardens. It has a lot of bee-friendly flowers down there so I knew it would be a good place to go for some pictures. The first picture is of a bee at a sunflower. The bee is just about to land on the flower. I had seen the bee around the other flowers so I was following him and guessed right as to which flower he would go to next. That resulted in getting this photo. The second picture I took was right outside my house in Stratford. I had just gotten back from the garden when I saw a monarch butterfly outside on the milkweed we have in our front yard. I tracked it with my camera for a while until it got bored of the milkweed and headed for the flowers which is how I got this photo. The last picture in this post is one I took on my phone. I have a Google Pixel so it takes decent photos but this one turned out really well. I was heading to work early one morning and crossed a footbridge near my house when I noticed the water was as like a mirror and there was even some mist on the river. I think this picture is great because it is one of those pictures where you could flip it upside down and it would still look right side up.
My longest back country camping trip this year was into Algonquin Provincial Park. I went from September 16-19, 4 days and 3 nights. Originally my plan was to stay until the 20th but circumstances forced me to change my original route. Originally, I had planned on going from the Shall Lake Access Point(17) to Godda Lake for one night, then head down to Boot Lake for two nights, up to Booth Lake for one night, then home. However, during my first day, I realized that I had overestimated my capability to portage with a 75 pound canoe, and I had planned too long of a route. I altered my plans and instead spent two nights on Godda Lake and one night on Booth Lake. Day 1: I got to the access point at 11:10am and had everything unpacked and loaded into the canoe by 11:25am. I made my way through Farm Lake (which has super clear water) to the first portage into Kitty Lake. The portage was only 100M and was the first of the trip. It took 10 minutes to double carry. I was able to do t...
