Last week I was on vacation at Red Pine Camp. This is a family camp located on Golden Lake in Ontario. I didn't manage to get as many photos as I would have liked due to the weather and the moon being full which ruled out any star pictures. However, I did manage to get some pictures hence this post. The first two pictures are my favourite ones I took during the week. Near my cabin was a dock that was used to refuel the boat the camp staff uses. I set up my camera on my tripod with my ND filter on and set out to get some still water pictures which I think I succeeded in getting. In the first picture, I had the shutter open for 2.5 seconds while in the second picture the shutter was only open for half a second. That is why the first one is darker and moodier than the second which is brighter and happier. The third picture is of a group of Red Pines looking up at their canopies. The camp itself is named after these trees. The fourth picture in this post is of the camps mailbox and private property sign which I took during the golden hour which gives it a nice glow. The final four photos I took while down by the dock one evening. The first of the four is of the rowboats the camp lets the campers use. The following two are of a pine tree located at a point jutting out into the lake. The final one is looking out from the dock into the lake and its islands.
My longest back country camping trip this year was into Algonquin Provincial Park. I went from September 16-19, 4 days and 3 nights. Originally my plan was to stay until the 20th but circumstances forced me to change my original route. Originally, I had planned on going from the Shall Lake Access Point(17) to Godda Lake for one night, then head down to Boot Lake for two nights, up to Booth Lake for one night, then home. However, during my first day, I realized that I had overestimated my capability to portage with a 75 pound canoe, and I had planned too long of a route. I altered my plans and instead spent two nights on Godda Lake and one night on Booth Lake. Day 1: I got to the access point at 11:10am and had everything unpacked and loaded into the canoe by 11:25am. I made my way through Farm Lake (which has super clear water) to the first portage into Kitty Lake. The portage was only 100M and was the first of the trip. It took 10 minutes to double carry. I was able to do t...
