This is part one out of a three-part series I'm doing. Every year my moms side of the family goes up to what we call the Hunting Camp. No one actually hunts up there but in the past people did. The history of this camp goes back to my Granda who was one of four original owners of the Hunting Camp. The Hunting Camp is now owned by my uncle and each of the other three oldest sons of the original members. The reason we go up to the camp every year is to honour and remember my Granda and Grandma.
The reason this is a three-part series is just that even though I was there for about 24 hours I took so many pictures I can't fit them all into one blog post.
The first picture is taken from the dock overlooking the main lake that the camp is based on. This lake is the last of three lakes just Southeast of Algonquin Provincial Park. The second picture is showing the passage that connects the main lake to the one above it, which is just a bit of marshy area. The third picture is of a dragonfly that I quickly took before it flew away. When I took this picture I didn't think it would turn out well, as I thought it would have been out of focus.
The following four pictures are showing the marshy area at the very end of the main lake. I have been up to the Hunting Camp five maybe six times and had never been to this part of the lake. I tried once but had to turn back due to a leak in the canoe. However, this time was different. My girlfriend who can be seen in the fifth picture and I took the canoe without the leak and were able to paddle down to this new part. This area was so peaceful there were no signs of human life just birds and frogs. We saw some ducks but they flew away before I could ID them. Even with the lily pads covering the lake the reflection on the water was stunning, it was just like a mirror.
The final two pictures in this post are taken during dusk. The first of the two pictures was taken during the golden hour and shows the reflection on the lake and the golden glow in the trees. The final picture is taken during the sunset which turned the sky a nice pink. I originally had some trouble taken this picture because the colour wasn't showing up right but a quick fix of the ISO changed that.
Come back next Sunday to see part two.
