Caterpillar

In my side garden I have a bit of dill growing. Once day I saw 3 black and yellow small caterpillars on the dill. Then in the following days they looked like monarch caterpillars. Then today I went out and saw that that were green and yellow and black and about 10 cm long. I used a low aperture like normal to make the background of of focus and make the head the only part of it in focus. I used 1/300, F 4.5 and ISO 100. With a 18-50 mm lens.

Mushroom and moss

When I was on my walk it was around 1pm which meant that the sun was high and it was bad lighting but as I came around a bend in the trail I saw a cut down tree stump covered in moss with a little mushroom growing on it and personally I always think mushrooms and moss looks good together so I took the picture but it was a bit awkward as I had my 70-300mm lens on so I had to take it from far back but it still worked out. I used 1/250 F5.6 and ISO 100.

Red Spotted Purple butterfly

At the conservation area I spotted this red spotted purple butterfly when I first started my walk which is the first picture then when I was done my walk I spotted it again in the same area so I followed it until it landed on the ceder tree. I like how the inside of its wings are black or blue depending on the light coming off it and how the outside is black with orange and red spots on it. I used 1/250, F 5.6 and ISO 100.

Dragon fys

I went for a walk to a local conservation area and I took my camera along like always so the next couple days i'll be posting the pictures from that walk. There wasn't very many bird to be found at the place other then an Baltimore Oriole nest which i'll post later but there was a lot of dragon flies around and they didn't seem to be scared of humans at all. The first two pictures are of the same type of dragon fly just in different spots and the last picture is of a small blue one with its wings folded.   My settings were 1/250, F 5.6 and ISO 100.

Brown winged moth

I was going into my garage when I saw a moth on the bottom of the garage door so I went and got this picture. I like how the moth pops out against the white background but also how the background gives texture to the picture. I used 1/500, F 4.5 and ISO 100.

Water drop flower

Today it rained yet again so yet again I went out for some water drop pictures only this time I went to a different spot in my garden. All of these purple flowers were bent over facing the ground so it made for a good picture in my opinion. My setting were 1/250, F 4.5 and ISO Auto.

Bird bath bird

I was out sitting on my front porch and I have a birdbath near it and I saw a Robbin go in and take a bath so I thought that would make a good picture so I went inside to get my camera and I waited for another bird to come take a bath and the next bird to do so was a sparrow pictured here. I put my camera on burst so I didn't miss anything and it worked out pretty well in my opinion. My settings were 1/500, F 4.5 and ISO Auto

Common Toad

Today I was out cutting my front lawn and near my neighbors pathway I saw a little movement out of the corner of my eye so I stopped the lawn mower and went to look what it was and it was your average every toad that was hoping around so i rushed inside to grab my camera and got this picture in return. My camera 1/250 for shutter F 5.6 and ISO on auto.

Lighting

I have been trying for ages to get a picture of lighting but I haven't been able to until now. I was on bulb mood and just put he shutter open until I saw some then I shut the shutter and this is what I got for it.

Garden Flowers

In my back garden we have a wide variety of flowers. We have columbines which is what the first photo is of and we have lily's which is what the second photo is of. The colours of the columbines contrasted each other very nicely and the wooden fence in the background brought out the colours even more. The lily had a lot of pollen as you can see and just taking a picture of a normal flower is kind of basic so I thought that a picture of the pollen would work out better and it did in my opinion.

Sunsets on a bike ride

Tonight I went out for a bike ride and it was a night of the first nice sunset of the year. The clouds were just right the sun was just right and the timing and locations were just right in my opinion, the sun was still a big ball and wasn't to low below the horizon and the clouds weren't blocking it either. I used ISO 100 and aperture 5.6 and my shutter was around 500.
