The Milky Way

For the first time since Covid-19 hit in March 2020, I was able to go back up to Red Pine Camp on Golden Lake. I didn't really see much to photograph this time as all of the birds were high up in the trees and refusing to come down. So instead on my last night there, the clouds disappeared and I was able to capture this beautiful photo of the milky way over Golden Lake. With very little light pollution this was a great location for this type of photography.

Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park 2022

For the Canada Day long weekend, I went camping at a park I had never been to. Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park. For those that don't know where that is, it is located 3.5 hours Northwest of Ottawa or 0.5 hours East of North Bay. Amable du Fond River from a bridge in the park. Northern Crescent Butterfly A nice fern I saw on a hike. Gem Lake  View from the top of a very steep hike. Calico Pennant sunning itself on my car. A Green Frog in the swamp. Another one off the life list, an American Redstart.

First Camping Trip of 2022 - Bon Echo

The first camping trip I went on this year was in late June, when I went to Bon Echo Provincial Park. I stayed for two nights, driving down from Ottawa on Friday and then leaving Sunday. It was a very pleasant stay at the park and I saw a lot of wildlife which you can see below.  A Four Spotted Skimmer which was eating lunch. This was a new species on my life list, a Blackburnia Warbler. A beautiful Northern Blue Flag by a creek. A Common Merganser with its huge family. What I think is an Eastern Wood-Pewee. Another Eastern Wood-Pewee. And finally an Orange Hawkweed.
