Today on my day off I decided I wanted to go for a walk. I hadn't been on a walk for a while in Mark S Burnham so I decided to go there and it did not disappoint. At the park, I was able to see a number of different species and enjoy my walk all without getting eaten alive by bugs.  In the first photo, I had stumbled upon my second eastern garter snake of that day. I was unable to get a photo of the first snake I had seen, however, I was able to with this one before it disappeared under a log. The second photo in this post is of a rather odd tree in my opinion. The whole top of the tree is gone and only two or four branches remain on the entire tree. I had just taken this photo as I thought it was a cool tree but when I looked at it later, the light was amazing. The third photo is of one of the many wood frogs that I had found well walking around they would just hop out of the way from my path and then disappear back into the leaves with their camouflage. This year I was able to go up to Red Pine Camp again, but only for a couple of days due to my work schedule. On my drive up I took a rather scenic route that included many lakes and great views. The first photo is of one of the lakes that I saw when I was driving up. The next photo is from just outside my camp cabin which is a farmers hay field which was recently cut and looks amazing in the nice golden hour lighting. The next three photos are all of the same dock that is near my cabin but is just of different angles and with my girlfriend sitting on the dock in a couple of them. The next photo is of a dragonfly that I was able to get up close to down by the waterfront. The following photo is of the tree the camp is named after the red pine out on the point that the camp looks out to. The following two photos are taken on my way home from the camp. These photos are from a walk I took in the Trent Nature Area. I went back in late May or early June and just have not had the time to upload these yet. The first picture is of a boardwalk winding through the forest in the nature area. The second picture is of the provincial flower of Ontario the trillium. This year I had not seen as many trilliums come out in bloom as in the past years, this may be due to the cold and wet spring we had here or something else. The last picture is of a mushroom that I found growing out of a fallen log. The light was perfect as it was shining right on the mushroom making for a nice golden colour.  My next post will come sooner rather than later I'm just not sure how soon it will come as life is busy with work. 

Today I was able to get out and go for a walk in Mark S Burnham Provincial Park which is just five minutes outside of Peterborough. The first two photos are of the same mushroom but one is in portrait and one is in landscape. I can not tell which one I like the most as the lighting for each one was different. The next photo is of a millipede that I found on a log. The last photo is looking out into the forest and the greenery in it. This post is titled part 1 as I will be going back to the park at some point this summer so there will be a part 2. 

 This is the third and final instalment of my Montreal blog. I want to apologize for this post being a week late, it is the end of term and I have been busy with assignments. This post starts off with a photo from the top of Mont Royal.  This picture is showing the bridge that connects the island of Montreal with the mainland. It also showcases some of the downtown skyscrapers. The second photo is of a plain brick wall and some may say that it is boring but I think it is a cool picture showing the detail of the brick. The following three pictures were taken on Mont-Royal they are of woodpecks, specifically the Hairy Woodpecker and Downy Woodpecker. The bird was flying around from tree to tree looking for some food while I was taking pictures. The final picture is of the view from the apartment's balcony of downtown at night. This is the second out of a three-part series I am doing on my trip to Montreal that occurred during reading break. The first photo is taken from the balcony of the apartment that I was staying at. This day was really nice as it was nice clear skies and the colours were really vibrant. The second photo is of a little house sparrow taken outside the apartment building. The third photo is of the Biodome which was built for the world fair of 1967 which occurred for Montreal. It is now an environmental museum which focuses on reducing greenhouse gases. The next two photos were taken in the old town of Montreal of what I thought were interesting buildings.  The following photo is of the city hall in Montreal with the sun in the background. The next photo I took while I was walking to Notre Dame. I think this is the best photo that I took during this trip. This past reading break me and my girlfriend went to Montreal for a holiday. We stayed at a relatives apartment which was centrally located. The first picture is showing the view from the apartment on the first day that we had there. The second and third pictures are showcasing urban architecture that I thought was cool as we were walking around town. The next two pictures are from inside Christ Church Cathedral which has a huge organ in it. The first of the two pictures are looking down at the entrance while the next picture is looking up at the altar. The next picture is from inside Mary Queen of the World Cathedral which is looking at the altar and the doom in the church. I have been inside this church before and it is honestly one of my favourite churches to visit because of its outstanding beauty. The last picture is of the Redpath Museum at McGill. We did not go in it due to a class being conducted in it but it is still a nice building.  Next week will...

Via Rail is what I consider a national treasure that gets forgotten about more often than not. It used to span Canada but due to cutbacks, it is a fraction of what it once was. I take Via Rail every time I come home from university and whenever I am travelling on my own within Canada. These pictures were taken from the Woodstock station where my brother takes the train back to college in the GTA. This was VIA Rail number 72. The train comprised of engine 6401 and 5  LRC cars.
